in teaching materials

Australia

External Providers

Job ads posted by these organisations show:

  • No life experience

Applicants need to be “18+ years old” – but “not at school

youthful and relatable” is a key selection criteria

  • No teaching qualifications required

Neither teaching qualifications or experience working with young people are key selection criteria

  • ‘Performance’ and public speaking experience are key criteria

Experience in public speaking, facilitating or performing to large audiences

  • Activists sought

“This is an extremely unique opportunity to … spark generational change

“Are you passionate about creating positive social change?”

Most external providers will not allow you to see the material they show to your child.

  • You might receive a note with an overview of what your child will be taught

Like this newsletter from Ocean Grove Primary or this letter from Bacchus Marsh Grammar

  • You may even be offered a special ‘parent presentation’

Most providers offer sanitised parent sessions which schools can offer. Note these are designed to put you at ease – they are not the materials your child will view.

  • Most external providers won’t allow parents to see their material

Parents report being told that their school can’t share the external provider materials due to ‘copyright’ reasons

The material used by external providers is concerning to many parents

Below are some examples that parents have shared with us. Do you have examples you can share? Contact us to share the material you have seen

Even without viewing the content they show your child, viewing the social media channels of external providers shows cause for concern

External groups promote use of wrong sex pronouns

External groups promote transgender causes

Steps to take to protect your child from external / third party programs

Find out who the provider is and look at their website

Ask to see the specific materials that your child will see (not the sanitised parent information typically offered)

If schools says it is copyright ask to view at school

If school won’t facilitate your access to view the materials your child will be presented with, use our template letters to withdraw your child from these sessions

If you view the materials and have concerns about them, use our template letters to withdraw your child from these sessions
