Consent Education
Consent Education is mandatory
Consent education is mandatory for all students in Victoria from prep to year 12 since 2023. How to withdraw your child.
Gender identity is embedded throughout consent education programs
Respectful Relationships and Sexuality Education are the key teaching programs through which consent education is delivered at Victorian government schools.
Many schools also use external providers to deliver consent education.
Victorian Consent Education Guidelines
You can review the Consent Education Guidelines for Victoria on the Education Department’s website.
Gender identity theory undermines consent
- Gender identity theory demands that people accept any declared gender identity based on the way another person feels, such that biological sex is not necessarily revealed.
- Full disclosure of biological sex, however, is required before consent can be given to ANY sexual intimacy (eg kissing, hugging, touching, intercourse).
- Biological sex (not gender identity) is fundamental to ALL sexual activity – biological sex, sexual anatomy, and desire, are all inextricably linked.
- Students are taught that it is bigoted and an act of ‘gender-based violence’ to not accept someone else’s adopted gender identity. Students may therefore feel coerced to consent to sexual intimacy they are not comfortable with. This is NOT consent.
